POS System
The Lornit POS for Retail has all the functionality expected of modern Point-of-Sale system and integrates seamlessly with the stock system and other modules provided by the Lornit.BI Platform. Particular features that make this POS software so well suited to the retail environment are listed below.
Configurable display
The POS is designed to issue bills quickly, with minimum button clicks and as much automation as possible, using touchscreen, bar codes and barcode readers, rfid technology, buttons, product images, product information and product availability.
Integration with Stock Management
The POS is designed to get real-time updates from the Stock Management System, ensuring all POSs can be controlled and updated from the central system. The POS also send real-time information of purchases and changes in stock, keeping the central system up-to-date.
The Stock Management System can also be managed from the Point-of-sale computer, by providing the necessary privileges to the operator/s managing the point-of-sale. This ensures that stock actions such as transferring of stock, receiving of stock, stock take and changes to stock cards can be performed at the Point-of-Sale.
Multi-location Support
Since Point-of-Sale system is linked with a central system, multi-location support is provided by design; enabling an operator in one location to query the stock level in another location and also to communicate with an operator in another location.
POS to POS communication
The POS caters for specific scenarios such as a restaurant with multiple Points-of-Sale. In such a scenario an order taken on one point-of-sale can be paid at another point-of-sale because the POSs can be configured to communicate with each other.
Hardware Customisation
The POS System is customised and tailored to meet the exact requirements of the business in terms of hardware too. We interface with and POS hardware, that supports interfacing. This includes: Printers, Barcode Scanners, RFID Scanners, Touch Screens, All-in-one systems, Cash Drawers, Credit Card Devices and any other related equipment.
Support for Marketing and Promotional activities
The POS System is designed to support promotional activities related to purchases such as loyalty cards, point management, vouchers, combo products and special offers. Several activities are supported right out of the box while some activities have to cater for by specific configuration to ensure that all client requirements are met.
Promotional activities can be setup on the central system and are automatically distributed across all outlets instantaneously.
Integration with Customer Database
The POS is integrated with a customer system for data collection and marketing purposes. In such a scenario a receipt is tied to a customer account based on loyalty card, telephone number or ID Card Number to enable marketing efforts to be based on accurate customer data.
Comprehensive discount and promotional product and customer discount schemes can be designed using customer data linked with sales data.
A flexible pricing structure is supported; to offer special pricing to your best customers.
User-Access and Control
Operators of POSs can be given different access rights to different functions, such as the opening of a cash drawer, price discrimination, giving a discount and other actions. Each action is recorded capturing, user_Id and timestamp on the POS and on the central system ensuring actions are fully auditable. Access rights are managed directly from the central system.
Access Control (user authentication) can be configured to use biometric readers for fingerprint identification.
POS Reports
The POS system enables the generation of important reports used for daily operations, such as; stock replenishments, x-reading and z-reading, sales by hour and revenue by sales person.
All reports can be exported to Excel™, Word™ and PDF.
Extensive reporting is provided on the Retail system where both a set of standard reports are made available and custom reports that apply for the specific retail scenario of the client are created.
Remote Configurations
Supports the implementation of the POS at other countries, while still maintaining full inventory control from your back office system.
The retail system provides multilingual support such that operators of different language in different countries can use the system in their language of choice.
Disconnected Environment
The POS is designed to work in offline mode and therefore is not effected by an internet or network outage. As connectivity is restored synchronisation with the central system is restored seamlessly without any user intervention.
Updates and Upgrades
The POS System updates itself automatically; it picks up any changes and newer version directly from the designated server and therefore is suitable for multiple installations in remote locations.

Add-on modules
Lornit.Retail can be further complemented with additional modules that integrate tightly to provide more valuable information to the organisation.
Customer Database
The customer database as a module complements the retail system as it provides functionality to capture, verify and store customer information that is linked to sales. It provides the ability to analyse customers and focus marketing efforts.
Document Management
Every organisation generates considerable documents in its day to day operations. Some of the documentation needs to be retained and even shared between roles and departments within an organisation. The Document management module helps an organisation to store its documents online such that availability, indexing, searching and processing are automated and the need for retention of hardcopies is greatly reduced if not eliminated.
Time Management
The time management module can be a valuable addon to any information system. The time management system automates the checking in and out of work for employees but for management it delivers much more than that. It can tie a transaction to a person. E.g. when an employee checks in on a point of sale, all the transactions performed after that can be linked to that employee, till he checks out. Same is applicable for stock transfers at stores. Time Management comes with various options of identification: simple user and password, barcoded tag, ibutton, finger print recognition and even facial recognition.
Fleet Management
So organisations utilise vehicles as part of their operations. Such vehicles can be managed via the fleet management module and the information produced by such a module can be used to add automated checks, position information, time and other valuable additional information to the organisation’s information system.
